Solve the “Your sign-in settings don’t meet your organisation’s 2-Step Verification policy” issue

Did you know that Google will soon require all Google Workspace (formerly G Suite) administrator accounts to have 2-Step Verification (2SV) enabled?

If not, then you may have been caught out recently when trying to access your account with an error that says:

And then when you click ‘Try Again’ you just get caught in an infinite loop – which is enough to send shivers down anyone’s back.

However, don’t panic – there is a way to get out of this loop, and get access back to your account.

The solution

You need to complete this form:
https://support.google.com/a/contact/recovery_form and select ‘I need to extend my organisation’s Google mandated 2SV enforcement date’.

You’ll then be contacted by Google Support with next steps.

Part of those next steps will require you to have access to your domain hosting backend and have the ability to change DNS records there – as that may be part of confirming your identity.

You may also be asked to answer some questions about the account.

Next steps

IMPORTANT: Once you’ve regained access to your account, you MUST add 2-Step Verification (also known as Multi-Factor Authentication MFA) to your Google account. This article walks you through how to do that: https://support.google.com/accounts/answer/185839

It’s a user that’s having this problem
